Dark Fairies, Folklore, Spirits & Creatures
In this program, we look at a lighter subject from a darker point of view with author Bob Curran, who joins us from Northern Ireland to discuss his book "Dark Fairies". He has been investigating the folkloric roots of fairies and myths and stories from around the world on all kinds of creatures. This is not a book for those who believe that fairies are friendly, kind creatures. In ancient times, the concept of fairies was rather different. They were often the dangerous embodiment of the land. They were dark and unpredictable spirits that watched humanity with a envious and hostile eye. Bob will talk about spirits, superstition and posession related to spirits and fairies. More Topics Discussed: folklore, legends in Ireland, Norway, fairies, Walt Disney, Oracle of Delphi, phosphorescent lights, spirits, superstition, Christianity, Satan, vampires, the people of the mounds, Djinn and Cottingley fairies. It gets more interesting with Bob Curran in our next hour as we talk about earth lights, plasma phenomena, marsh gas, ball lights, the Brown Mountain lights and Native American stories about these kinds of energies/spirits. Today we use words like UFO and greys. The stories are the same as old but some of the names and interpretations have changed. Topics Discussed: marsh gas, souls of dead children, Earth lights, plasma phenomena, ball lights, North & South Carolina, Brown Mountain lights, lore, modern interpretations of spirits and lights, UFOs, abductions, the greys, fear liath (fear the grey man), the moon eyed people, big eyed rock art, Tuath de Danann, Santa, Tomtar & Troll, Vikings, Dublin, Baron Hylton, Robert Skeleton, vampires, blood sucking, energies, chupacabra and more.Relevant Links
