Source: youtube.com
Description text from YouTube: Following the fall of the Islamic empire in Spain, Spain fell into her fall season on account of being full of fawning faux bonhommes and malmademoiselles falling from Gods grace due to their faux religious tendencies, resulting in the collective faugh of the Spanish "fawns" - not leading to the genesis of fauvism but resulting in the fall of the Catholic Monarchy.{ I couldn't resist! ..sorry,I'll try to stay sane}Anyway, Spain fell into turmoil, ironically losing their moral compass in trying to be overly religious. Both the Spanish inquisition and the Incan conquest were religiously motivated activities that resulted in inhumane consequences. Irregardless, the Spanish climate would be reflected in the work of its Baroque painters, artists who would paint works dealing with religion and martyrs, but each bringing their own unique perspective- El Greco with his transcendence, Ribera with his ability to capture pain and agony and Zurbarán with his ability to capture the power of a moment with unrivaled simplicity. The show ends with a not so simple portrait artist Diego Velázquez, who made a little known piece called Las Meninas.
