Belgium considers euthanasia law for terminally ill children

The Belgium government, considered the pioneer of euthanasia laws, is contemplating a new law that would allow terminally ill children the right to die. It would also offer that same right to dementia-diagnosed adults.An unprecedented law, if passed Belgium would be the only country that would allow children to be euthanized, a country that lists euthanasia as a medical therapy. "Child euthanasia is a controversial form of non-voluntary euthanasia that is applied to children who are gravely ill or suffer from significant birth defects."
For children to be euthanized, three things would be required by Belgium law:
(1) The child needs to request it
(2) The parents need to consent to it
(3) An expert states that the child is mature enough to understand the decision
Belgium has already legalized euthanasia for anyone over the age of 18, but the new law for child euthanasia would also offer dementia-diagnosed adults the right to die. Currently, CBN reports that since euthanasia was legalized in Belgium, it has been used for Anorexia Nervosa, blindness, botched sex change operations, and depression.
The primary procedure is considered painless. Physicians inject the patient with a strong sedative to relax them, followed by another injection to stop the heart. However, palliative sedation relieves physicians the act of killing patients. The patients are sedated, and their life-sustaining support is withdrawn. The patients slowly starve to death, which takes days.

Nothing new here really considering some of the history of Belgium.
