"Collateral Murder" - Pentagon murder coverup?
A video of a shocking incident which occurred in 2007 in Baghdad has been released by whistle-blower website WikiLeaks. It reveals in graphic detail the shooting deaths of a group which included Iraqi civilians and Reuters journalists by a U.S. Apache helicopter."On July 12, 2007, two American Apache helicopters killed more than a dozen Iraqis in the suburb of New Baghdad—casualties that the military said were all “insurgents.”’ (Source)

Since its release to the public domain through WikiLeaks, the video has gone viral and has left the US Military and Pentagon scrambling to explain the disturbing footage and how such a blunder could have occurred, and to assure that this behavior is not a commonplace occurrence when the cameras aren’t rolling.
A senior American military official has confirmed the video is indeed authentic.

"The 38-minute video shot from an Apache helicopter gunsight shows some men in a street.[110]The pilots may have mistaken the journalists’ cameras for guns or a rocket-propelled grenade.[111] The helicopters opened fire, resulting in the death of several people, including the two Reuters news staffers.
The helicopter operators can be heard saying "Hahaha. I hit ’em" and wishing for the man to reach for a gun, even though there is none visible nearby, so he has the pretext for opening fire: "All you gotta do is pick up a weapon."
Minutes later, an unmarked van with several apparently unarmed men and two children inside it pulled up and the men tried to help a survivor. After this the van (and the men) were fired upon, leaving two children wounded and all the men dead.[112]" (Source)
Prior to the release of the video, Wikileaks accused the Pentagon of spying on their journalists and employees. "The US Army has already labeled the website as a security threat. Now Wikileaks - which won Amnesty Internationals news media award last year - has issued a statement claiming its editors are being investigated: WikiLeaks is currently under an aggressive US and Icelandic surveillance operation"

The decision to release the decoded video ultimately came from WikiLeaks co-founder, Julian Assange. He insists that the actions by the Soldiers, Commanders and Pentagon officials throughout the chain of command are problematic at best, and that this type of "attack on journalists trying to get the truth out" is a systemic and deliberate silencing of the revelations of wartime horrors.
