Dylann Roof to Receive Death Penalty

11 By |

Dylann Roof has been sentenced to death for the murder of nine black churchgoers in Charleston, South Carolina.

Roof was convicted of 33 federal charges, and will be the first person on death row for federal hate crimes.

The 22-year-old appeared impassive as the verdict was read. Roof’s statements, however, revealed that he regrets nothing.

“I still feel like I had to do it,” he said. “Anyone who hates anything in their mind has a good reason for it.”'

The sentence hearing is scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday at 9:30 am.
