Fashion-Able? The Aesthetics of Prosthetics

Source: ted.com
" It’s not fair having 12 pairs of legs"

The following is a very interesting and thought provoking TED speech given by athlete, actor, and activist Aimee Mullins. She speaks on her own ’disability’ (or non disability), how her prosthetic legs might be seen as super-human, or more than human, and how these things might grant her capabilities we can only dream of yet. She brings up the idea that human-ness may not be "the only aesthetic ideal".

Entering the world of artistic expression through body enhancements and prosthetics, Mullins challenges us to reconsider the traditional boundaries of the ’disabled’.
Has the conventional understanding of humanity expired? Will we evolve into something new?
