Fukushima workers told to cover detection devices with lead to downplay radiation levels

TEPCO has been caught lying about radiation levels at Fukushima yet again, this time it was reported that people working at the plant were told to cover their radiation detection devices with lead so the reading would come in below the legal limit.

BBC reported that:
The Japanese government says it will investigate a report that workers at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant were urged to disguise their exposure to radiation. Build-Up, a subcontractor for plant operator Tepco, admitted one of its executives told workers to put lead shields on radiation detection devices. Otherwise, they would have rapidly exceeded the legal limit for exposure.[1]

At around the same time that this was uncovered it was announced in the news that radiation levels at Fukushima are now many times higher than the lethal limit. Most news agencies are reporting that this is a sudden spike, which may be true, but it seems now that no one can know for sure if the detection devices were being tampered with all this time.
