Young women are freezing their fat so they can use it to firm and boost their bodies 30 years later

Young women are being offered the chance to put some of their body fat ’on ice,’ which they can use to smooth out lumps and bumps 30 years in the future.Patients undergoing liposuction at The Private Clinic in London can pay £1,200 to ’bank’ their tissue for a year. They would then pay an annual fee of £200 to keep it stored.
The patients would then be able to use the tissue to firm up sagging areas up to 30 years later, according to cosmetic surgeons.
Fat transfer - or ’grafting’ - from one part of the body is now quite a common procedure especially moving fat from the bottom to the breasts.
However, the liposuction specialists in Harley Street said they are the first to allow patients to store their own tissue for later life.
Virginia Crowley, 28, was one of the first to undergo the treatment as an ’insurance policy’ in case she wanted to use her own ’natural’ fat later on.
Tissue removed by liposuction is couriered to a laboratory where it is prepared for storage at a human tissue bank in Manchester.
’It’s early days for this type of storage but there is no reason to suggest that the tissue wouldn’t be just as effective years later,’ a spokeswoman told Mail Online.
’There should be no degeneration of the fat cells as it is a robust tissue and it is properly treated and frozen at a regulated facility.’
Insurance policy: Virginia is only 28 but wants to keep her fat cells in storage for later life.
The patient can also have stem cells extracted from their fat and stored. These could be used in the future to help future fat grafts to transplant successfully by stimulating the growth of blood vessels.
Dr Mike Comins, medical director of the Private Clinic, said: ’In your twenties, thirties and forties, you can extract a substantial amount of healthy stem cells from this fat (adipose tissue). As you get older, the stem cells start to diminish.’
But he denied the treatment would encourage unhealthy vanity among clients.
He told the Evening Standard: ’It’s the most natural form of cosmetic medicine and being able to use tissue from a young you to use in anti-ageing treatments in the older you, is revolutionary.’
