Bank of America stops handling WikiLeaks payment

Joining the chorus, the Bank of America has issued a statement that declares that the Bank will not be handling any transactions or payments that are related to the whistle-blowing website, WikiLeaks, as has been announced by several major financial institutions.The statement released by the North Carolina-based Bank of America states, “The Bank will not process transactions of any type that we have reasons to believe are intended for WikiLeaks.”Sources say that the move was undertaken by the Bank of America, one of the world’s largest banks, since it believes that some activities of WikiLeaks are unacceptable and against the internal policies of the Bank requisite for processing payments.
In response, WikiLeaks also issued a statement on Twitter, urging “all people who love freedom close out their accounts at Bank of America.”WikiLeaks is yet to unveil the unethical practices operated by major banks and financial institutions, as said by the spokesman of the website.
Previously, Bank of America, MasterCard and PayPal have withdrawn their services for WikiLeaks.
