VIKINGS: The Strangest Viking - Ivar the Boneless
In 865, none were more feared and ruthless than Viking leader Ivar Ragnarsson, known through time as Ivar the Boneless. Son of Ragnar Lodbrok a powerful Norse ruler of the Munsö dynasty, Ivar, "a man of exceptional cruelty and ferocity", (according to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle - the opposition) lead his huge armies into England, killing and destroying in berserker fashion, and cementing a legend in history. However, there is debate about Ivar himself, and what the sagas mean by ’boneless’. Was he a giant or a dwarf? In the following documentary, the idea is explored that Ivar the Boneless was severely disabled, crippled by a genetic disease, but the evidence might suggest something else as we will see.An interesting note * The bones found at an archaeological dig in Repton, as showcased in the documentary (32:35) reveal a giant skeleton! This is an AMAZING giveaway. Why has more research not been done on this? Yet there is so many more bones found that points to the existence of giants around the world? Once again evidence is laid aside as a rare case of mere ’gigantism’.Read more about Viking Repton hereRobert G. Johnson & Janey Westin - Hour 1 - The Last Kings of Norse America
