Trump Expected to Announce End to DACA
Fox News reported on Thursday that the Trump administration intends to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, otherwise known as DACA.
Instituted by Obama in 2012, the DACA program protects young illegal immigrants from immediate deportation. Currently, an estimated 800,000 illegals are in America thanks to this program.
Trump's decision to repeal DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents) in June was a step in the right direction, but many of his supporters worried that the president would leave DACA in place. Moreover, the departure of former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon led some to believe that the Trump administration was heading in a less nationalistic direction.
In light of today's news, however, it appears that Trump still intends to crack down on illegal immigration, and has not been fully swayed by the more moderate voices in his cabinet.
