Cancer Patients Screwed Over By UK Cannabis Laws

Source: wideshut.co.uk

Today’s blog is all about weed, or at least the insanity of the British Government who refuse to accept the myriad of scientific evidence that shows cannabis to be a relatively harmless drug if used by responsible adults (especially compared to tobacco, alcohol, caffeine and hard drugs), and that it has several proven medical benefits.

- You see our first story is about Paul Madge from Coventry who was given a 12 month suspended sentence and ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work for the dastardly crime of using and selling cannabis to ease the pain of cancer treatment. He had cancer in 2005 and was forced in to debt in order to pay for the only drug that helped his pain – as opposed to the crap on the NHS netting corporations millions. He then opted to grow his own and sell it to get back on his feet. For that he is now burdened with a drug charge.

And sadly police were only called to his home when concerned neighbors hadn’t seen him for a while and his mail was piling up. In future we know who NOT to call when we’re concerned about our neighbors.

The judge told Madge: “What is clear is that you have suffered a very unpleasant and painful illness and have sought relief through cannabis…You’re not the first person to do that, but it is illegal.”

Yeah it used to be illegal to eat mince pies on Christmas day in the 17th century because Oliver Cromwell was a self-righteous blowhard. Times change!

- In a similar case from my own town, a man named Charles Binns (49) set up a sophisticated cannabis factory in a flat to fund surgery to treat his wife’s brain tumour.

The poor chap was given 4 years and his wife committed suicide.

This week he went to the Appeal Court in London to try and have the sentence cut, but judges said the case was “very sad” but his appeal was “unarguable”.

We’ve turned a blind eye to cannabis prosecutions for too long in this country, because of the stereotype of lazy good-for-nothings smoking it and yobbish hoody wearers selling it, but the above two stories are the reality of the drug war. Society’s elders and cancer patients getting screwed over by politicians.
