The Norwegian Police Security Service (PST), a domestic intelligence agency, warns that Islamists are recruiting recently arrived illegal migrants at refugee centers.
“We have seen signs that extreme Islamists have approached the reception centers and asylum seekers. They have been there to get contacts. Aside from that, it’s difficult to say what their specific purpose is,” Jørn Presterudstuen of the PST told local media in Norway.
“We are of course worried about recruitment into radical circles: of course we are worried about every single person that may be recruited by extreme Islamists and their cause.”
The manager of a refugee center in Oslo cited one example where “an Islamist who has been in Norway for some years” tried to recruit Muslims.
“His message was that the West had helped to destroy his homeland and they had to stand together within Islam. It was very important that they continued to go to the mosque and followed the rules, particularly with regard to women,” Hugo Limkjær said.
In August, 2014, police in Norway received alert warning that the Scandinavian nation faced imminent attack by Ansar al-Sunna if it did not designate part of the country as an independent, Shari’a compliant Muslim state.
“We do not want to be a part of Norwegian society,” an earlier communique by the ISIS-affiliated group stated. “And Allah’s earth belongs to everybody. But let Grønland become ours.”
“We do not wish to live together with dirty beasts like you.”
Grønland is a district in Oslo, the nation’s capital, and it is reportedly patrolled by Shari’a enforcement gangs.
“It’s not Norway or Europe anymore, except when there is welfare money to be collected. The police have largely given up,” a blogger wrote in 2011.
The same year police statistics showed that in Oslo 100 percent of rapes between strangers were committed by immigrant, non-Western males. Nine out of 10 of the victims were native Norwegian women.
“These men they do not attack their own,” noted a Norwegian rape therapist, Kristin Spitznogle. “They attack Norwegian women and a liberal culture they will not accept.”
In March the new Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, began a program to deport radical Muslims. The effort resulted in a 31% reduction in violent crimes.
In October, 2014, the National Police Immigration Service of Norway deported 824 people. The previous month, 763 people were deported.
Most of the deportees, however, had not committed crimes and were deported because their asylum requests were denied.
