Lisa Holm, 17, who disappeared last Sunday at Kinnekulle, Västra Götaland in Sweden, has been found dead.

The information comes from police who held a very brief press conference just before half past one at night near the site.

More than 900 volunteers have joined police in searching for the missing teenager over the past few days, in the biggest event of its kind organized by the Missing People charity.

More than 7,000 people disappear in Sweden every year, according to Missing People, but the search for Lisa Holm is one of the biggest in recent years and has captured high media attention.

"This is the most high-profile case I have experienced in this role," Stefan Gustafsson, a press spokesman for Västra Götaland police told Swedish broadcaster SVT on Thursday.

- Police have during the evening encountered a deceased person, and we believe that it is most likely Lisa Holm, said police spokesman Jenny Widén at the press briefing.

- She was found in the previous current search area by police, she continued.

Widen also stated that the three immigrants retrieved earlier today still in the questioning. The three, two men and a woman, all foreign guest workers.

According to witnesses, they were taken earlier in the evening away in handcuffs from Blomberg's manor, a few hundred meters from the place where Lisa disappeared.

Police cordoned off and searched several buildings associated with the persons taken in for questioning, including a farm belonging to Blomberg's manor. Police would not say whether the body was found there, but only confirms that it was in the search area in Blomberg. Police says not how long the person has been dead or if there was damage to the body, but expects to be able to provide more detailed information at lunchtime on Saturday.

Three people - one woman and two men - were taken in for questioning on Friday evening. They were escorted from a house about 300m from the café where Holm works.

According to Camilla Fogel Hamre, a police spokeswoman, they are not under suspicion. "They have been taken in for questioning. There is no suspicion."

One neighbour, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Aftonbladet newspaper, "I got a shock. It was completely unexpected. The police knocked and but said they had the wrong house. Then they went to the neighbour's and brought out these people."

Lisa Holm, who was named by police on Tuesday, was last seen at a café in Blomberg near Lidköping at around 6.30pm on Sunday after working a shift there.

Police are continuing to be secretive about the discoveries made in the area on Thursday.

Unconfirmed reports in the Swedish media suggested that volunteers had found a new clue in a church as officers expanded their search area from a 300-square-metre radius to a much larger 10 square kilometres.
