Indian Writer Cries Racism after Whitewashing Her Own Characters; Attacks Ann Coulter for "Anti-Semitism"
In a recent article published by The Telegraph, writer Radhika Sanghani, an Indian woman born and raised in Britain, complained about the lack of ethnic characters in today’s literature. Since Sanghani is a writer of Indian descent one would assume that she would take it upon herself to change the literary landscape with a groundbreaking novel about a courageous Indian heroine, but alas, the protagonist of her debut book, Virgin, is a young Greek woman because, uh…well, let’s allow her to explain
I had a lot of Greek friends in primary school? I didn’t realise my heroine had to be the same race as me? No one ever said this would be ‘a thing’ – should I have made her brown?
But there is one other possible influence on my decision that I rarely voice - because it embarrasses me. I have a sneaking suspicion that my character is white because I’m so used to reading novels with white protagonists. I think I unconsciously just followed suit.
When I wrote my book, aged 22, I had the influence of TV shows such as Girls to encourage me into writing a realistic depiction of ‘millennial’ life. But I didn’t have enough overt influences of diversity in commercial fiction (I’m not sure Parvati Patel in Harry Potter really counts) to make it feel natural to have an Indian heroine.
So because there were not enough representations of Indian characters already present, Sanghani, a real life person of Indian ethnicity, decided she couldn’t have an Indian protagonist, despite the fact that no one ever told her this. Naturally, this is all white people’s fault. It should be up to every white person to write characters with backgrounds and culture completely different from their own so that writers like Sanghani can get inspired to write their own Indian protagonists. But seriously, why can’t she write characters who are struggling with the complexities of motherhood and marriage or to achieve a career ambition that just happen to be Indian?Why does she say we desperately need diversity in books but then doesn’t write diverse characters herself? Why not write a book with an Indian heroine who faces many obstacles fighting the horrific sex slave trade still rampant in India? How about a young British Indian teenager who finds himself at odds with his strict Hindu parents? How about a young Indian girl with a unicorn who learns she can read people’s minds?Writers have this amazing tool they have been using for centuries to help them write stories: their imagination. Hopefully this news will not upset anyone but J.K. Rowling never went to wizard school and J.R.R. Tolkien never hung out with hobbits. They made it up because that’s what good writers do.
Sanghani then goes on to complain about an Internet webpage called #WhitePenName generator, a website started by the Asian American Writers’ Workshop which provides a list of white sounding pen names to help generate “artistic legitimacy.”
Sanghani states, “The #WhitePenName generator may be an amusing way to highlight racial privilege in publishing, but the idea of authors feeling pressured to ‘whiten’ themselves or their characters is dangerous...”
Sanghani’s argument might hold weight if she did not then contradict herself later in the same article by stating:
“I haven't experienced any racial discrimination from publishers.”
Then why is she writing about this? Why does she see herself as a victim of systemic racism when she, an Indian woman, is employed by a high profile website like The Telegraph and has a book published by a well-known publisher?
She contradicts herself further by citing Michael Derrick Hudson, an American poet who received many rejections until using the Asian pen name Yi-Fen Chou. Doesn’t the mere fact that Hudson finally got his work published under an Asian pseudonym and not his real very white sounding name prove that white privilege is not as prevalent in the literary world as Sanghani claims?
There’s also a certain level of hypocrisy in enjoying all the benefits of a white created society while biting the hand of it at the same time. Like most non-whites who complain about “white privilege” and “systemic racism,” Sanghani is forgetting that it is because of the accomplishments of whites that she is able to enjoy the success she does. Her book, Virgin, was published by The Penguin Group. The Penguin group was founded in Britain in 1935 as Penguin Books by Allen Lane (a white man) as well as his brothers Richard and John (also white men).It was a white German man by the name Johannes Gutenberg who invented the printing press around 1440 which made it possible for books to be mass produced in the first place.
Also, consider the difference of living standards between Britain and Sanghani’s country of ethnic origin, India. According to Wikipedia:
Lack of proper sanitation is a major concern for the people of India. Statistics conducted by UNICEF have shown that only 90% of India’s population is able to utilize proper sanitation facilities as of 2008. It is estimated that one in every ten deaths in India is linked to poor sanitation and hygiene. Diarrhea is the single largest killer and accounts for one in every twenty deaths. Around 450,000 deaths were linked to diarrhea alone in 2006, of which 88% were deaths of children below five. Studies by UNICEF have also shown that diseases resulting from poor sanitation affects children in their cognitive development.
People without access to proper sanitation facilities more-often-than-not defecate in public or in rivers. One gram of feces could potentially contain 10 million viruses, one million bacteria, 1000 parasite cysts and 100 worm eggs. The Ganga River in India has a stunning 1.1 million litres of raw sewage being disposed into it every minute. The high level of contamination of the river by human waste allow diseases like cholera to spread easily, resulting in many deaths, especially among children who are more susceptible to such viruses.
India is also ranked 7th in the world for being the worst for sex trafficking and crime against minors. Their school system doesn’t fare better:
While many schools were built, they had poor infrastructure and inadequate facilities. Schools in the rural areas were especially affected. According to District Information System for Education (DISE) in India in 2009, only about 51.5% of all schools in India have boundary walls, 16.65% have computers and 39% have electricity. Of which, only 6.47% of primary schools and 33.4% of upper primary schools have computers, and only 27.7% of primary schools have electricity. Learning in poorly furnished schools was not conducive, resulting in poor quality education.
Furthermore, the absence rates of teachers and students were high, while their retainment rates low. The incentives for going to school were not apparent, while punishment for absence was not enforced. Despite the government’s decree on compulsory education and the child labour ban, many children were still missing classes to go to work. The government did not interfere even when children missed school.
Certainly being born and raised in Britain, a country founded by white men, has offered Ms. Sanghani a level of comfort that many in India could only dream of. Her lack of acuity on this matter however is not surprising considering she is yet another feminist, anti-White SJW crusading against the evil white, male patriarchy. Several of her articles find her bemoaning the injustice poor, pitiful Muslims in Britain are subjected too . It is not right to afflict violence against an innocent person minding their own business be they Muslim, Christian, black, white, or brown, but it is ludicrous that Sanghani can have a bleeding heart for one Muslim woman who got a black eye than she can for the 1,400 girls in Rotherham who were gang raped repeatedly for years by Pakistani Muslims. Not one mention of them, not one tear shed. Her latest target is right-wing poster girl Ann Coulter, apparently “America’s most hated woman.”
Sanghani is angry with Coulter for calling out Republicans for their consistent pandering to Jews. Indeed, the recent Republican debate was more of a smooch fest with Israel, a country that has done absolutely nothing for anyone but is more than happy to take an unearned three billion dollars a year from America, than it was a night to propose ideas to help actual Americans. This prompted an angry series of tweets from Coulter:

— Lana Lokteff (@LanaLokteff) September 17, 2015One can only assume that Sanghani is perhaps not aware that Jews control banking, the media, Hollywood and every retail brand in existence, including all brand name clothing like Victoria’s Secret, H & M, Ralph Lauren, and The Gap. Not only do all of these companies have Jewish CEO’s, they also use sweatshops, many of which are based in Sanghani’s own India. Children as young as eight have been found working in New Delhi sweatshops for The Gap whereworkers are paid less than 40 cents a day.
One would think it would concern Ms. Sanghani that her own people are being sold out and abused by Jews but to point this out to her would no doubt just lead to more accusations of anti-Semitism.
Sanghani and other anti-White SJW’s can deny it all they want but the fact is the European race has built amazing countries through their own blood, sweat, and tears; countries so amazing that everyone in the world wants to live in them. It is because of the hard work and higher standards of white Europeans that an Indian woman can get a book deal in the first place,all while enjoying things like proper sanitation facilities and first world education.
